In this video, Dr. Joop SE Laven, Professor of Reproductive Medicine at Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam provides an overview of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS); the varying phenotypes, current evidence on addressing infertility associated with this disease as well as both short term and long term risks for patients diagnosed with PCOS including the risk for cardiovascular disease—a common comorbid condition found in this patient population. Dr. Laven also proposes a patient management algorithm that may be used to stratify the various types of PCOS patients and potential therapies to improve outcomes.
