Foundational  Nutrition

Dr. Mark Kaye, in his role of leading Medical Information at Metagenics, has had the opportunity to receive and respond to numerous queries from clinicians on a variety of topics regarding nutrition, supplementation and how to help patients optimize their health and wellness to improve their outcomes. In the new monthly podcast series titled “Nutrition Bites”, Dr. Kaye and his colleague, Dr. Veronica Gasko will discuss some of the more interesting and relevant questions they have received–and answered. In this inaugural  podcast, they review the importance of establishing a good foundation of nutrition for all patients. They also discuss whether or not a good diet can provide both micronutrient sufficiency and nutrient diversity as well as established roles for supplementation to both the Standard American Diet (SAD) and healthy diets.

A recent poll taken by the Counsel for Responsible Nutrition found that about 68 % of all Americans regularly consume dietary supplements and almost all of those polled used vitamin-mineral formulations such as multivitamins. Conversely, others polled believe people can get ‘all’ the nutrients they need from food, from their diet.

Mark Kaye, DC is Senior Manager of Medical Information at Metagenics. Veronica Gasko, DC was a chiropractor in full-time practice in Islip, New York for 15 years and with Metagenics for 12 years supporting First Line Therapy and is a member of the Medical Information team.
