Clinical Nutrition Series: Male Sexual Health Module
Subject Matter Leads: Dr. Geo Espinosa and Dr. Ralph Esposito
In this webinar Dr Geo Espinosa and Dr Ralph Esposito review the various lifestyle factors that contribute to less than optimal male hormonal functions. Male sexual health requires an intricate balance between multiple organ systems. Dr Geo and Dr Ralph cover dietary suggestions for improved libido and what tests can be taken to determine low testosterone if there are signs of decreased sexual function.
Testosterone (T) plays a major role in male sexual health such as libido. The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis (HPG) works closely with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA), where the adrenals are the primary sites for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a major precursor to male androgens, particularly T. Proper communication between the HPG and HPA systems allow for the optimal environment for male sex hormones and sexual function.
