Omega-3 supplementation for restored memory

An investigation examined the effects of 4-17 month supplementation with ω-3 fatty acids and antioxidants in patients with minor cognitive impairment (MCI), pre-MI, and Alzheimer’s. An increase of macrophage activity and amyloid phagocytosis was seen as well as an increase inflammatory gene transcription. This study is the first to show that there are direct immune and biochemical effects of omega supplementation in the brain that may benefit cognitive impairment.
