Impact of Diabetes-Specific Nutritional Formulas versus Oatmeal on Postprandial Glucose, Insulin, GLP-1 and Postprandial Lipidemia

In this study of a medical food participants underwent the study procedures on three separate visits. Visits were conducted in the morning after an overnight fast of at least 8 h. The sequence of the three meals was randomly assigned with a washout period of at least two days between visits. Study visits were completed within a three-week window starting from the day of the first visit. This was done to minimize any variability in dietary and exercise patterns. The background diet of the participants was not controlled. However, a 24-h food log was reviewed by a registered dietitian at each visit to confirm the consistency of dietary patterns.
